Exam Accommodation Information for Faculty

Faculty Exam Information

Students are approved for academic accommodations through CDA. It is the instructor’s responsibility to implement the approved accommodations.

As a service to instructors, CDA may administer exams on the instructor's behalf. Please review the instructions below if you wish to use the CDA exam services.

Step 1 - Enter the dates of all exams

Log in to the CDA Faculty Portal and select the “courses” tab to view all accommodations grouped by courses. Under the courses tab, you will be able to view all of your courses that have at least one CDA student enrolled. Click on “tests and exams,” and begin adding tests.

Exams must be scheduled in advance; the CDA cannot accommodate same-day or next-day requests. The CDA has limited space for exam administration.  Receiving exam details early in the semester is essential to arrange sufficient testing space for the term.

To secure a testing slot for your students, please submit each exam for every course individually. This action serves as a calendar reservation with the CDA, ensuring your student has a designated time in our testing center. It is imperative that you enter your exam dates as early as possible to guarantee availability.

Important reminders:

  • You may change the dates and times of your exams before the start time of the scheduled exam.  However, CDA cannot schedule same-day or next-day exams.
  • Each exam/quiz must be submitted as a separate entry.
  • If multiple students are enrolled in the same course, you need only submit the date/time of each exam once.
  • You do not need to upload your exam when you enter this information.

Step 2 - Deliver your exam to the CDA 24 hours before the exam start time

Exams should be provided to CDA by 12 PM (Noon) the business day prior to the exam in order to facilitate the process of exam proctoring.

Please note: The CDA processes and prepares exams daily, including assigning testing rooms.  To ensure your student can take their exam at the scheduled time, all exams must be uploaded at least 24 hours in advance. Failure to do so may result in the student being unable to test at the requested time.

Important reminders:

  • Exams can be uploaded through the faculty portal or hand-delivered to our office.
  • You can upload any file type for your exam, but a PDF is preferred.
  • If you hand-deliver an exam, you must retrieve it. The CDA does not deliver or return paper exams to the instructor.
  • For a canvas exam, please provide the password or access code.
  • 24 hours before the start time of the exam, a feature in Canvas locks the exam, and you are unable to make changes.

The CDA provides only scratch paper for students.

If you want your students to use any other materials (such as blue books or scantrons) you must supply the materials for the students. Additionally, if your exam requires the use of a computer, your student will need to bring their own or rent one from the library.
