Adaptive Technology

Disability Services has many labs around the U campus that are open exclusively for students with disabilities. Each computer is equipped with ADA software and hardware.

CDS adaptive technology lab locations:

Union Building Room 162, Disabilities Office

Disability Services has two computer labs right here in our office. In the main lab, there are two computers on adjustable tables. In addition, there is a high-speed scanner and two flatbed scanners. For more information, please consult the CDS lab technician.

Union Building Room 162, Small Lab

In the small lab, we have a computer with a CCTV that can be used simultaneously with the computer using split-screen technology. This computer also has a high-speed scanner and a flatbed scanner. This lab requires an appointment. To schedule the small lab, please call (801) 581-5020 and we will be happy to setup a time for you to use the lab. In addition, this quiet location is perfect for use with Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Residence Halls: Sage Point Building 811, Open Lab

The newest addition to our labs, this lab has four computers, a high-speed scanner, two flatbed scanners, and a CCTV. In addition, during open hours, a lab technician is always on hand to answer any questions or to assist with any problems. The lab is open to all CDS students, even if you don't live in the residence halls. In addition, this quiet location is perfect for use with Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Marriott Library, The Carrel

The Carrel is a great study space! Located in a private, quiet room, the Carrel has a computer on an adjustable table with a high-speed scanner and a flatbed scanner. The room is also equiped with another desk, so if you need to spread books and papers out to help you study, it is a perfect location. The Carrel can be used seven days a week, anytime the library is open. In addition, this quiet location is perfect for use with Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Accessible Computers in Student Computer Labs

We also have computers in public labs across campus. Computers in these labs are marked with the ADA symbol and are equipped with accessible software such as Kurzweil 3000, JAWS, and ZoomText (unless otherwise noted here).

Multimedia Center

The Marriott Library Multimedia Center (MMC) has three ADA computers and two flatbed scanners. In addition, one computer has a a CCTV that can be used simultaneously with the computer using split-screen technology.

Union Lab

The Union Lab is located on the lowest level of the Union buliding, in the Crimson Underground. The lab has two ADA computers.

Benchmark Computer Lab

The Benchmark Computer Lab (Peterson Lab) has one ADA Computer.
